Final Exam Blog

Lexi Fiore

This is my final exams blog. After watching movies for half the school year I learned a thing or two about movies that are depicted by history. First, some war movies are super dupery boring. I lied the movies that has humor, love stories, and an interesting plot line. But in all, Hollywood really deceives the viewers to thinking that whatever they put on film is the real deal, and that's not true.

Media does whatever it needs to in order to make themselves famous or well liked. They think that whatever they put, others will believe. We are so closed minded to thinking whatever we see on the Internet and social media is true, so why not trick us on the big screen? However, not many people are fans of history movies, so other simply do not care.

There were ,any inaccurate things in movies such as glory, platoon, and other movies. Granted, not many people care enough to look that deep into the movies to see what's true and what's not.

Having more experience I'm looking deep into these movies, I'll keep my eyes out more when watching movies like this. I'll stay open minded and not just believe everything the media tells me. This class was a fun one but I can't say I'm sad to that this is my last blog. Good ridince y'all.

The Help Review

Lexi Fiore

I recently watched the movie called The Help. And wow is all I have to say! This movie blew my expectations. It was revolved in Mississippi in 1960's during. Very biased time period. The civil rights movement movies are always ones that catch my eye and keep me interested.

The Help is a movie during the 1960's civil rights movement. The main characters all had their own black maids. They disrespected them, all of them except Miss Celia. She had the most respect for her Maid, she ended up being more of her friend. The basis of the movie is a girl who was raised by a black maid, grows up to be a writer for the newspaper. During her writing for her newspaper, she decided to write a book about the maids she involved her life in and write their stories.

Emma Stone was a fabulous actor. She did a great job with her emotions and got me feeling sad at times too. Another one of my favorite actors in this film was the one who played Miss Celia. She showed so much respect for Minnie unlike any other person she worked for. It made me happy to see her treat other with respect and maturity.

Love love love this movie. That is all.

I give this movie a 5/5 rating :)

Apollo 13

Lexi Fiore

I recently watched Apollo 13 in class and I would love to review it. This movie is an austronomical movie. A group of guys have been trainer for years to take this flight up into outer space. I'm not a fan of space travel, but this was cool.

Apollo 13 was a very interesting movie. Not many people actually know what it takes to be apart of NASA and the role they play in everyday space missions. Traveling up into space is no joke. It' really takes a toll on your body and Tom Hanks did a wonderful job playing the part. Seeing how they float around, eat, and do every day things was cool to see.

All three of the astronauts did a great job. You can tell he excitement was greatly portrayed by them. even when they were sad they didn't fail to make you feel sad scared or anxious with them. Of course the main character was my favorite character.

Although the ending was sad, I still liked the movie as a whole. It wasn't my favorite in this class, but it's up there. Having this been the second time I watched it, it surprisingly didn't bother me. Good movie!

3/5 rating :)

Against The Wall

Title- Against The Wall

I recently watched Against The Wall in class and I want to review on what I witnessed. his movie as about the Attica Prison break in 1971. The prisoners took over control of the entire jail and went rampant. They started to abuse heir officers and each other.

Michael Smith is a new recruit to the prison service. There is also several of his colleagues there also. All of them get caught up in a prison riot fueled by bad prison management. A huge lack of understanding by the guards caused the prisoners to attack in the most violent form they could. They hung a few guards, beat some to death, and gave them ungodly torture. Not only did they destroy the guards, but the other prisoners as well. The power completely took over each other. Michael and Jamaal created a strong bond in he movie and both tried to make it out of there alive while everyone else tried to break each other to bits and pieces.

I think the main actor Kyle MacLachlan did and EXCELLENT job at his character. His credibility is amazing. he had me emotional, scared, worried, anxious and so many other things in one movie. he made me believe he was a real officer and I liked that. bad actors ruin movies completely.

Even though this wasn't my favorite movie we watched, I still liked it. It as entertaining and very interesting at most times. It was graphic and very visual, which made some parts hard to watch, but for the most part I give this a job well done!

This movie is rated R
I give it a 2.5/5

Forrest Gump 2nd assesment

Lexi Fiore
5/29/15

Forrest Gump. Such an interesting movie in many ways. It was comical, serious, and sometimes just dumb. Overall, the movie was great! Don't get me wrong, I love a box of chocolates too. You never really know what your gonna get. Gump was born with not the sharpest brain out there. His IQ was low but that didn't stop him from doing anything he wanted. Going on the bus to school wasn't easy for poor Gump, but it would be a day he would never forget. There he met his best friend. Jenny Curran. Jenny and him were a bunch of veggies as Forrest would say. Did I mention he's not the brightest? Anyway, him and Jenny did everything together and helped each other along the way of their wild life. Forrest got into the University of Alabama and got a sweet ride through football. Meeting the president, making the all American team, and more is what his fast running skills scored him. On the other hand, good ol Jenny got a little frisky in her "college years". Never mind that, but after Gump graduated college, he decided to join the army. There he met his other best bud, Bubba, and his other. Dan. Bubba talked Gumps ear off about his shrimp business. He followed through with it after the Vietnam war. After his war days, he met back up with jenny and stayed at his home in Alabama. After leaving him, AGAIN, may I add, he did exactly was Jenny told him too. Run.

Now this guy, for whatever reason, ran for 3 years straight. STRAIGHT. Who does that? Well whatever we all know his mind is in left field so we'll leave it at that. On his 3 year run, he got followers. People joined him on this wild journey, which I also think is absolutely insane. there more too his story but I don't want to be the one to ruin that for you so ill stop here.

Forrest was involved in a lot of historical events. Vietnam, Elvis Presley, JFK assassination and more. That was a cool thing to do because it was him living it through his present day life, but is history to all of us.

Top Gun Review

Lexi Fiore

I recently watched a movie in my class called Top Gun. This is also a movie involving the war. This movie showed a lot of air craft which is something that I'm not necessarily into, but I loved the movie.

In this movie there was some nice eye candy. Maverick was nice looking and a nice actor. I enjoyed his role in the film and the love story he and Charlie had. Also the relationship that Maverick and goose had got my emotions all over the place. What really ,are the ,Obie come together and different than others, is the love story. I know I say this a lot but that's what made this movie the best.

All the characters did am amazing job! I can't find one character I didn't think did their job right. Tom cruise is always fabulous. He really played the pRt the best and he was my favorite character in the film.

As you can tell from above, I really liked this film a lot. This was by far the best movie I have seen in this class to date. It is the perfect mixture of history and a love story. I really found It to be very interesting.

5/5 rating :)

Forrest Gump activity 1

Forrest gump activity 1
Lexi Fiore

Elvis Presley was dipicted  in this movie in a couple way. First, when Forrest was dancing in the room too the music. His braces made him dance and move his legs in a way that may not be approved to the public eye. After going on a walk with his mother, Forrest and her saw a tv through a glass window and watched Elvis dance the SAME dance he did! His mother covered his sons eyes and walked away in disgust.

The JFK assassination was also played in this movie. It was shown as a small clip. Before the clip. They showed other videos of JFK talking to the all American team for football and congratulated them and talked to them. After explaining how nice he was, they showed the day of his assassination.

Lastly the Vietnam war was showed in this movie. Forrest is in the war himself . They showed the drill sargents and his training. They showed him loading guns and sleeping alone.

Zero Dark Thirty Review

Zero Dark Thirty Review
5/11/15

Just recently I have viewed the movie Zero Dark Thirty. It was very captivating and kept my interest throughout the entire film. I would like to write a review based on my sighting. This movie is a thriller about the finding, capturing, and killing of Osama bin Laden. It was filled with suspense.

Ever since the terrifying attack on our World Trade Center on 9/11, Maya and her team worked day in and day out to find and capture the cruel mastermind behind the attack, Bin Laden.Throughout Pakistan and Afghanistan Maya started her 10 year journey to find and kill him. She went through hell trying to find him, and those who connect with it. She goes through a lot to find him, but at the end is when everything seemed all worth it.

Maya did and EXCELLENT job acting. She nailed the role and was so passionate. The character Maya was fierce, angry, and determinated. I don't believed that could have been performed any better! The character John also did a great job. Considering no other roles were as major, its hard to compare. All around great job.

I find I liked everything about it. I loved the places it was filmed, the actors reactions, and the feel of the film. There wasn't much to dislike. This movie kept me interested, awake, and alert. Great job all around for Zero Dark Thirty.

I would recommend this movie to any body! Great movie and good representation on how we took down our enemy.

Glory Review

Title of film- Glory

Just recently in school I have watched the movie glory. After watching it I really wanted to write a review on it. This movie was about the American Revolution. It's about the United States' first all-African-American regiment, the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry

In Massachusetts in 1863, the first all African American regiment. They were all educated, none of which were run away slaves. They joined the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infrantry willing, wanting to fight for their country. Even when they were threatened their lives they still fought. Officer Shaw was an officer himself in the federal army during the civil war. He volunteered to lead the first company of black soldiers. He had to deal with the prejudices of both the enemy and of his fellow officers.

The main actors were Denzel Washington, Mathew Broderick, Cary Elwes. They all did a good job. The best was Broderick since his role was the hardest. He really felt emotion. The rest was okay, the movie lacked some character.

In all, I felt the movie was pretty boring. It almost made me fall asleep. It was lacking suspense, emotion, character and all around entertaining. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone because I did not enjoy it at all.

The rating of the movie - R

I give this movie a 1 out of 5.

The Patriot Review

Title: "The Patriot"
Lexi Fiore

Just recently I watched the movie The Patriot. It interested me in many ways and i feel as though i should state a few opinions i would like to state. This movie was an interesting one because it was a war time movie. They're great thrillers and really cause a lot of suspense on the viewers. It was revolved around the Revolutionary War. Farmer Benjamin Martin and his family go through a roller coaster throughout the movie, and it really caught my eye.

This movie is about a farmer named Benjamin Martin and his seven children. Benjamin was forced into leading the Colonial Militia. In 1776 in colonial South Carolina, another war is brewing, and Ben in right in the middle of it, He was a past French and Indian war survivor and is still shaken up from his past with it. He want absolutely nothing to do with war, and especially doesn't want his family involved either. However his eldest son, Gabriel Martin, feels as though its his duty to go into the war and fight for what he believes in. He goes against his fathers will and enlists himself into the war. The rest of the movie is a path of ups and downs explaining their journey through the war and their family as well.

The two major characters in this roll are Benjamin Martin played by Mel Gibson, and his son Gabriel Martin played by Heath Ledger, They both did a phenomenal job in the movie. They're facial expressions, especially in combat, couldn't have been better! They both showed great emotion and really played out the part excellently. Probably the person i felt was the best actor was Jason Isaacs, who played Col. William Tavington. He was the evil guy in the film, and he did just an AMAZING job doing to! He was super serious throughout the film and sold his part one hundred and ten percent. I personally couldn't find someone who did a bad job in this film. The cast did a swell job!

The movie as a whole was very good. Not talking about all the inaccuracies, but the whole movie. The story, the suspense, and the characters. However, speaking about the inaccuracies, there was a lot of them. For one, Benjamin Martin did not have a single kid in real life... in this film he has seven. SEVEN. That was a bit of an overstatement for me. Another one is how this war expanded over a five to seven year span. In the movie it covered all of this time, but not one of Ben's kids aged a day. They all looked the same. I understand if there was a problem for recasting an older cast, but it was extremely inaccurate.

I believe that the theme of this story is that you should always fight for that you believe in. Even though Gabes dad told him not to go into the war, he did so anyways. It was way to important for him to not go into the war. It made him persevere. It also changed his father too. I think people will know that fighting for what you believe in is the greatest thing you can do. Fight for family, love, and for yourself.

I would definitely think that an older group of people will enjoy this movie. Since this is war based, and very graphic i might add, the age group should be 16 years and older. I wouldn't recommend this to a younger age group because for one it is very graphic, and two the concept of this time period would be confusing for them to understand. The rating is R, and i find it fits best. All in all, the movie was very good. I enjoyed it greatly and would love to watch it again.

Rating- 4 stars out of 5 stars

However history is not my forte, I love some war time slaying movies.
